Pallet Transport

Pallet Transport and Pallet Freight Across Australia

The pallet is the standard unit of business freight for a reason: it's stable, forkliftable, and quick to load. We move palletised freight across Australia, from a single pallet space through to full trailer loads, on interstate, regional and metro legs, and we help you get it rated the cheapest legal way.

From One Pallet Space to a Full Trailer

You don't need to fill a truck to move pallets economically:

Single & Part Loads

A few pallet spaces sharing a trailer with other freight, which keeps the cost down when you're not shipping in volume.

Full Trailer Loads

When you've got the volume to take the whole vehicle.

Any Pallet Type

Standard, oversized and non-conforming pallets, including loads that overhang or over-stack and need special handling.

Getting the Price Right

How a Pallet Is Rated (and How to Keep the Cost Down)

Pallet freight is charged by the pallet space and the lane, using the greater of a pallet's actual weight or its cubic (space-based) weight. In practice, a few things decide how many spaces you pay for:

Footprint & Height

A standard pallet within the height and weight limits is one space; an over-height or overweight pallet can take more.

How You Stack

Building up to (but not over) the standard height often fits more product into the same single space.

Overhang

Product that hangs past the pallet edge can bump it into a larger rating or need special handling.

Tell us your pallet count, footprint, height and weight and we'll tell you how it rates, so you can pack to the most economical configuration before it ships.

At the Other End

What We Need at the Delivery End

The other thing that affects a pallet delivery is what's waiting at the other end. If the site has a forklift or dock, we deliver dock-to-dock; if it doesn't, we allocate a tail-lift vehicle so the driver can lower pallets to the ground. Flag it when you book and it's built into the price rather than sprung on you later.

Site Has a Dock or Forklift

We deliver dock-to-dock, unloaded the normal way.

No Forklift: Tail-Lift Required

We allocate a tail-lift vehicle so the driver can lower pallets to the ground.

Which Service Fits?

Pallets or Loose Freight?

If your goods are stacked and secured on a pallet, this is the service. If they're loose cartons, crates, drums or irregular items, that's general freight, which is rated and handled differently. Palletising usually makes freight cheaper to move and less prone to damage, because it travels as one stable unit. If you're on the fence, ask us at quote stage. Your pallets can move interstate, regional or metro, and regular pallet runs can become a scheduled service.

Rated the cheapest legal way: pallet count, dimensions and weight are all it takes to price it right.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How is pallet freight priced?

By the pallet space and the lane, based on the greater of actual or cubic weight. A standard pallet within the height and weight limits takes one space; an over-height or overweight pallet takes more and costs more. We tell you how your pallets rate at quote stage.

Can I send a single pallet?

Yes. You don't need a full load. Single and part-loads share a trailer with other freight, which keeps the cost down when you're only sending a few pallet spaces.

Do you carry CHEP and Loscam pallets?

Yes, standard pooled pallets including CHEP and Loscam, plus oversized and non-conforming pallets that need special handling.

How can I reduce my pallet freight cost?

Pack to (not over) the standard height, avoid overhang past the pallet edge, and consolidate part-loads where you can. We'll show you how your pallets rate so you can pack to the most economical configuration.

What if my delivery site has no forklift?

We'll allocate a tail-lift vehicle so the driver can unload without a forklift. Just flag it when you book so it's in the quote.
